Over the last few weeks, my brother ventured into the world of computer parts. Namely putting together these parts to create a beast of a computer. He wanted to accomplish this in one weekend, but unfortunately, obligations kept him away from home these past few weekends. Thus, it became a piecemeal project.

When it was finally finished, we gushed for a solid hour. The processor. The motherboard. The fact that it has four fans to accommodate any PC games he may want to play in the next, oh, five to ten years. The massive HD screen and the case that has blue LED lights inside. Truly a work of mastery.

Three days later, we were still gushing and after about five minutes, my sister-in-law said, "okay, enough geek. Time for bed." haha.

I've used "the beast" a few times for blogging and download speed? The fastest I've ever seen around these parts. One day I hope to accomplish a similar feat but for now, it was fun just to watch someone else do it.

What did you geek out about this week?

Until next week, kids...

I am super excited to be sharing a review and giveaway with you from Skater Socks. This family-owned business has been in business for almost eleven years. All of the socks are made in the USA and are affordable.

Think you've got to be an athlete to enjoy the benefits of these cool socks? Think again. Not only are they visually appealing but they'll keep your feet and calves warm in the wintertime and when it's just plain chilly outside. They come in different lengths and they even have baby skater socks! My little niece-in-law even has some.

My sister-in-law turned me onto them some time ago. Neither of us are cold-weather people and she swore by them, saying that they made the icy temperatures more bearable. She was right. I've been wearing them ever since.

I have an old dance injury in my calf and it gives me trouble when it's cold outside. All of my other socks come only to my ankles or a bit higher. Skater socks come to my knees and give me an extra layer of insulation. When it's warm outside, they're just fun to wear with shorts and tennis shoes.

Durability wise, they hold up over time. My older pairs have been run through the washing machine and dryer for over a year and no holes yet, which is much more than I can say for every other pair of socks I've owned.

In short, I can't find anything wrong with them. I can't think of a single improvement. Between all the different lengths and the constant addition of colors, you'd be hard-pressed to find at least a couple of pairs that don't meet your needs.

This pair is my current favorite. Black with Carolina Blue stripes.

You want to see for yourself? Here's your chance. Skater Socks is going to give one of you guys three pairs to try for yourself. Here's how to win.

Mandatory Entry
Visit Skater Socks and tell me something you learned about them or a pair that you'd choose if you won.

Extra Entries: (please leave a separate comment for each entry)

It's come to my attention that I don't really make personal posts. With limited spare time to indulge in my couponing and blogging hobbies, I schedule my posts when I limit my activities to searching for and posting deals.

I do, however, love reading posts from other bloggers involving their interests, families and sometimes good, old-fashioned rants. So, I've decided to institute a new weekly post, Geek Moment Mondays.

I'm a huge geek in every sense of the word. I'm a huge film nerd; I love computers and technology and I'm getting more immersed in comic book heroes. My favorite music was made before 1970 and to see The Rolling Stones in concert is on my bucket list. I checked off Bob Dylan last fall.

I invite you to take a moment with me each Monday to embrace your inner geek, not only to indulge me but to share your own geek moments as well. And now, let it begin.

Last week, I read a graphic novel for the first time. I've always loved super heroes (Superman is my favorite-don't laugh Batman fans) but I was never into reading actual comics that much.

I love the superhero movies of the last several years and decided to expand my exposure. My local library is a little slim on pickings but I found some Hellboy material. Here's what I read:

I actually really enjoyed it and scrambled back to the library two days later to pick up the remaining Hellboy graphic novels they had on the shelf.

How about you guys? What fun, geeky things did you do last week? Please share.
P.S. Happy Valentine's Day!

I have a confession to make. I've been wanting to try Easy Lunch Boxes since I heard about them several months ago. I'm only working part-time right now but I do work a couple of long days during the week and I go through more plastic bags than I'd like to admit. This system would not only simplify my lunch-packing but help me get a little greener as well.

I'm impressed with Easy Lunch Boxes' social media sites (I'm a Facebook and Twitter follower) and now, their website boasts a new web series, "Let's Do Lunch" where they "sing, dance and pack lunch." In case you haven't seen it yet, you can check out the first episode with special guest Barry Williams from the original Brady Bunch.

If you like what you see, make sure to check out their website, Facebook and Twitter pages.

Also, keep your eyes peeled over the next few days for a chance to get a discounted system for yourself.
