It's always fun when you can make money at Target and it's even more fun when beer is involved in said transaction. Here's How I did this week:
Bought 3 Venus Razors @ $7 each & used 3 $2/1 coupons. Got three Olay Body Washes that got me a $5 Target gift card and used 3 Buy a razor get a body wash coupons to get them free. Had the printable Right Guard coupons left over and found the Gillette body washes on an endcap for $1.99, used the printables and got them free. Found another $1/1 Reach coupon, so grabbed the floss. The beer was $10.
Original Total: $68.08
Coupons: $35.55
Target Savings: $5
Used $10 in rollover gift cards.
Total cash out of pocket: $17.53
$15 rebate from Olay and $5 Target gift card.
$2.47 money maker!

I know...I know. I should have saved my tax refund, BUT my laptop is almost six years old and it was time for an upgrade. I've been thinking about this model for a while and though it was $1349.00, it was worth every penny. It's only about $100 more than I paid for my old laptop at the time and it does all of this:
HDMI output
Blu ray player
Brand new Pentium i7 processor w/2.8 Ghz speed
500 GB hard drive
17 in. HD wide screen
Sooo pretty. Sorry, my geek comes out over stuff like this.
Anywho, I'm going to post tonight while I'm loading all the stuff on it but then I will be totally cracked out.

Had another couple long days at work, so not much posting (or reading) since Wednesday.
Work was rather slow so I started Smart Women Finish Rich by David Bach which I checked out at the local library. I'm about fifty pages in so far and am really enjoying it. I may chronicle my progress in the book on here depending on how it goes.
I must make my Values Ladder before I can proceed any further. Anyone read this one? What did you think?

A great way to save money, get things for free or even make money is to do mail in rebates. The trick to these is to find an in-store deal that you can combine with the rebate. Discount super stores like Target and Walmart usually have some good sales, but pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens have rewards programs that can turn your rebates into money-makers.
How to find them:
Following blogs is a great way to find out about them. Usually several people that I follow not only post the link to the rebate form but also will include a deal or two to make it worth your while.
Sometimes the coupon inserts in the Sunday paper will have a form for a freebie when you fill out the rebate form and send it in.
Internet searches. Just Google "mail in rebates" and see what happens. I found Mommy Saves Big through Google, and the whole page is dedicated to mail in rebates.
Make Sure to mail them.
The only way it work is if you actually send them in. My guess is that companies bank on the fact that people will buy their product with the intention of getting some money back and not actually send it in. It's actually a really good marketing ploy.
Do it immediately.
I have to fill out the form and stuff it and the receipt in an envelope almost as soon as I get home or I forget to do it and time runs out. I also have a spot on my desk allocated for rebates in case I don't have time when I get home from the store to remind me to complete them within a day or two.
Stay motivated.
To keep myself doing them, I mark on a wall calendar which day I mail the rebate off. That way, I can see how many I've done and can estimate about how long it will take for me to receive my checks.
I'm thinking of making a simple spreadsheet as well. Nothing dated, just a list of what I've sent off and mark it off when I receive the check. That way, the results are visible and I can keep track of the money I'm saving/making, which motivates me to keep seeking them out.
Any other tips you can think of?

Remember this coupon from JC Penny? $10/$25 in store or online? Well, I swung by there today to see if I could catch any deals, and they've got some decent sales going on. My guess is that over the weekend they may go down a little more on certain things.
They have a lot of "Buy one get one for $1" clothing items.
In the juniors' section, there's a rack (a little one) that's 80% off. They had a formal dress for $4.97! I imagine other clothing sections have the same rack somewhere in the back corner of the section, hehe.
I racked up in the jewelry section. All of the Arizona costume jewelry is 50% off, making the $6-$7 necklaces $3-$3.50! I got two that are really cute! Their rings are also about $6. I snagged three stackable thumb rings for $3.00!
Mixit costume jewelry is 50% off and so is all of their sterling silver. Lots of their boxed jewelry is also around 50% off. It was cute, but I wanted something cheap, hehe.
Also, there's a little table in the corner with everything an extra 50-80% off. Lotsa pretty, sparkly earrings!
I ended up getting two necklaces, the stack rings and two of the clamp-style bracelets. Total was $38, the coupon took $25 off, so I paid $18, but I had a $21.00 gift card left over from Christmas, making the cute jewelry free!

Sad news. Our Harris Teeter is closing. It was on the front page of the local paper this morning. They'll be closing sometime before March 30. The closest one is in Greensboro which is about 45-50 minute drive from my house! No other stores around here double or triple coupons. Ever. Grr..
Guess it'll be Food Lion and Target from now on, and maybe Walmart toward the end of the month on a slow weekday.
But on a happier note, this morning was a success. I do love super doubles! Here's what I got:
Free Stuff:
Kotex Pads, Baby Power, Glade Plug-ins, dish detergent & salad dressing.
Super Cheap Stuff:
Aquafresh Toothpaste - $0.28 each
Cheese Nips - $0.10 each
Tidy Cat - $0.28 each
Cheap Stuff:
Cat Chow - $2.00
Original Price: $61.01
VIC and coupon savings: $5.76
Final Price: $6.25
That's 89.76% Savings!
