I'm so excited! I've got something to give away for the first time in my short blogging life. It's not much but it could be beneficial!

Over the past couple of weeks, I've amassed about $150+ in coupons that I can't use. Need some extra ones? Entries are simple (one entry per comment left):
1st-Leave a comment and tell me something fun. Anything.
2nd-become a follower (lemme know in a comment)
3rd-get e-mail updates from me (again with the commenting).

Oh yeah, leave a way to contact you in the post please.

I'll pick a winner on Saturday night. I should be off work Saturday night.
Thanks for stopping by :).

Today was kinda disappointing on the deals front. I met two of my good friends for lunch @ the mall and figured I'd try out the $10 Sears coupon here. There was a rack in the back that had stuff for $12 and under. I found two ADORABLE shirts that actually fit for $5.99 each. I gave the lady behind the counter the coupon and it wouldn't read it. She called her supervisor who couldn't get it to work either.

She explained that because it was printed off the internet, too many people were making copies and that they couldn't honor it unless it came from the actual magazine or something like that?

I was very polite and asked if I could put the items back if that was they case. They were nice and offered to put them back for me and apologized for the whole thing. I know it's not their fault but corporate really shouldn't put coupons on the internet if the stores aren't going to honor them.
Anyone actually use this coupon and have it work? I'd like to know that it does work somewhere. A friend of mine told me no doubt it was probably only at our Sears (they're not really known for reliability or good customer service around here).

Secondly, on my way home, I figured I'd try out the new Redbox codes for a free rental. The whole time it acted like it was going to take the code until I checked out. The first one wasn't valid in my area and the second one had already been used or something like that.

So I cut my losses and headed home. I was a bit disappointed but I suppose some days you beat the system and some days it beats you.
Any good experiences with these?
Please post a comment and let me know.

I browsed a bunch of my favorite blogs last week and discovered this awesome idea called "Mailbox Mondays" where they post all the cool free stuff they got in the mail that week. It looked like something I needed to get on the bandwagon with, so while this one is small, all this stuff came while I was at the beach. I didn't want to come home but these freebies made it better! ;).
Oh. Not pictured, 4 $3 checks from Pinecone Research. Those will help offset vacation spending a bit, hehe.

Today was a lot of fun and super cheap! I spent a total of $3! I began this morning at around 10:30 with a bowl of Kashi cereal from the Target deal last week and a book I've been trying to finish for a year (April in Paris by Michael Wallner), which I think I might actually accomplish before the trip is over.

The best friend and I headed out around noon and rode our bikes to the lighthouse up the road. We walked around the shops and decided to go to the top of the lighthouse. She told me the trip up used to be free but it's now $3/person, which wasn't so bad.

There was a mini museum on the walls leading to the top and the view was spectacular once we got there. We took lots of pictures!

When we were done with the lighthouse, we browsed more shops, hopped on our bikes and returned to the apartment to fix some lunch before heading to the beach for about an hour. That's where the new profile pic came from. So much fun, can't wait to go back.

The evening's festivities included a visit from a friend that lives down here, cooking pasta and watching the season premiere of House. After our friend left for the night, we decided on a midnight swim and a session in the hot tub.

All in all, a ton of fun for almost no money. Can't wait for tomorrow! :)

So thanks to A Frugal Friend's post, I just joined up with BzzAgent. I'd never heard of them before, but so far it looks pretty neat. I think I'm going to like this site.

Today was pretty relaxing. We hit the outlets for most of the day and then cooked dinner and watched the Emmys. I'm bummed that Mariska Hargitay didn't win, but at least if she had to lose, it was to Glen Close.

I only spent about $17 today with tax. I got a bikini top @ the Old Navy outlet for $2.00, a Christmas long-sleeved cotton t-shirt for $2.50 and a cute top from the Banana Republic outlet for less than $9.00.

We stopped by the Bi-Lo (btw I wish we could get one of those in D-ville, they had double coupons!) and picked up a 2 liter of Sprite and some dish liquid soap. My total was a bit over $2.

We ate breakfast/lunch (late night last night, so we did a brunch type thing) and dinner at the apartment.

Not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow but I'm sure it'll be a blast! :)
Post Grad
We made it! Today was the travel day. We left D-ville around 9:30 and made it to Hilton Head, SC around 3:30 or a bit after. Pretty good timing. Our resort is awesome and everything's so close.
Spending was pretty good.

We stopped at a rest area for lunch. We packed soft tortillas and ham to make wraps.
We hit up Publix for some filler groceries for throughout the week. The island caters mostly to more elite clientile, so the grocery store was a bit more expensive than we were used to, but we still got out for $38.25 total to split between the two of us. No pic for proof but this is some of what we got:
We got juice (bogo), 3 fresh chicken breasts (on sale), hot dogs and buns, a loaf of whole wheat bread, 2 blocks of cheese, cooking oil, lemon juice, lettuce, tomatoes, a cucumber, 2 boxes of mac and cheese, and a few other things I can't remember.

We may eat out tomorrow, but we grilled up a couple of the hot dogs from the shopping trip and some chips we brought from home for dinner. I have to say, the cheapest hot dogs we could find were delicious and were surprisingly pretty low in the fat content.
All in all, it was a long day, but we had so much fun! Can't wait for tomorrow.

Finally! My long awaited beach vacation with the best friend starts tomorrow (well, technically today) and I can't wait! I feel like I'm six years old on Christmas Eve and can't sleep.

Got my two favorite girls (Sundance and Tribeca-my calico kitties) with me because I won't see them for a week. We're staying at a time share, so room and board has already been covered. I budgeted in my half a couple of months ago.

Both of us are trying to save money right now, so while we each have a good amount of spending money, we've come up with a few things to help us have a frugal trip.

1. Packing food. Between the two of us, we've pretty much got breakfast covered for every day. I've also been storing freebies/cheapies from grocery day for the last couple weeks. We've got plenty of soup, rice, snacks, etc.

2. Gift Cards-I'm using a $30 Kroger Gift Card I won a while back for extra groceries we'll need once we get there. We also have one gift card each for a restaurant. She got a deal through a survey site with restaurants.com for a pretty sweet gift certificate and I've had $25 worth of gift certificates from Red Lobster for a while.

3. Games. We're bringing the Wii and a couple of games and I found a cheap backgammon board to play down at the pool, so when on the nights we don't go out, we've got entertainment covered. She also tells me that there's a shuffleboard court! hehe. I've never tried it but I'm excited.

4. Outlets! No girls' beach trip is complete without a trip to the outlets; however, by shopping at the outlets, we're likely to save lots and I've got some gift cards left over from Christmas (I hardly ever buy clothes) for some of the stores. Can't wait!

Anywho. I'll probably post once or twice from the beach, but I'm looking forward to a mostly tech-free week.

I did two transactions for all the items above today.
The first transaction was two of the lovely $5 Gift Card Kashi deals. We now have enough cereal for the next several months, 10 boxes to be exact.
10 boxes @ $2.88 each = $28.80
Thanks to the lovely people at Vocalpoint, I had 9 of the $1.50/1 coupons and one for a free box of Honey Sunshine.
So that makes total $16.38. Then I got two of the $5 Gift Cards, making all of the boxes $6.38 or $0.64 each after the coupons and Gift Cards.

I'm saving up stuff for the future apartment when I can find deals, so I also snagged one of the Oster $15 blenders, on sale from $25. Check out the specs here.

I tried my hand at the Glade deal here and got two tins and two 4-count refills for $0.32 total. These will make great additions to gifts this Christmas.

The $0.16 Pop Tarts deal I talked about here is still going on. Only there was a $0.55 off any box coupon in last week's coupon insert, so combined with the Target $0.75/1 here makes them $0.16.

And finally, a lovely "Thinking of You" Card for a friend for $0.99.

Also a $1.09 Peanut M&Ms package for free thanks to the coupon I won from Friday Chocolate contests here.

Original Total $66.43
Savings: $35.80
Total after savings and coupons: $30.63 before 2 $5 Target Gift Cards.

After putting everything in the car, I ran back inside and grabbed a Euro Pro toaster over on sale for $29, used both of the gift cards and got it for $21.49 with tax.

So, I spent about $60 today total, but for the original price of just the blender and toaster oven (now in the stock pile for the new home), I got both of those and all of the groceries!

So, all in all, I'd say it was a successful day!

I made two stops today. One at Harris Teeter (@ 7:45A.M.) and the other to Target on the best friend's lunch hour.
Our Harris Teeter is old and pretty small, so on triple coupon days, you'd better be there right after they open. I was able to drag myself out of bed before 7:30 and got there before most of the people.
Here's what I got:

Unfortunately, our Harris Teeter doesn't double or triple coupons (that I know of-->it was on their little posting outside the manager's cubicle), but the triple manufacturer's coupons are lovely, so no complaints here.
They had the smaller boxes of Totino's Pizza rolls-buy 2 boxes get 3 free. I had a coupon for $0.40/2 which made these about $0.64 each. Check last weekend's inserts for one of those coupons.

The $0.50/1 Betty Crocker Warm Delights coupons from last week's smart source insert made for a free deal on 3 of these delectable morsels. I'm pretty sure the ones from a few weeks ago aren't expired yet either and they'll triple up to three coupons for the same item, making for three free deserts.

There was another $0.40/2 Campbells' Select soups and they're still 4/$3 making these less than $0.15/can for two.

The Bumblebee Albacore Tuna in water pouch was on sale for $1.79 and the $0.55/1 Bumblebee pouch made this $0.14.

The Martha White muffin mixes were BOGO for $1.19. There was a a $0.55/1 (I think) in an insert a couple of weeks ago that made both of them free.

No coupon on the Cape Cod Kettle Chips, but they were on sale for $2.50, regularly $3.49 and I'm addicted to the sea salt and cracked pepper.

I still had the $0.85/1 Viva Big Roll Paper Towels from ages ago that I never got to use because I used to go later in the afternoon to triple coupon days. That tripled made the paper towels less than $0.25

The $0.50/1 Betty Crocker Frosting coupon from last week's insert made for some free rainbow sprinkles frosting to go on top of my free muffins, hehe!

Finally, the Pillsbury Grands rolls were on sale and the $0.35/1 coupon from the insert a few weeks ago made these free as well.

Coupons Tendered: $29.90
Vic Savings: $13.12
Total Original cost: $43.01
Final Cost: $9.78 with tax
Over 77% savings!

I had a fun morning and then came home for a nice nap.
:)

I haven't had time to scale all the Target deals yet this week, but they've got a great one for all kinds of Kashi food.

The deal is they're all on sale for $2.88 each. If you buy any five products, you get a $5 Target coupon. There are so many things you can do with this.

Scenario #1
If you got the two samples of Honey Sunshine in the mail, even if the free coupons have been used up, you've probably still got a few of those $1.50/1 coupons.
5 boxes Honey Sunshine - $14.40
5 $1/50/1 coupons - 7.50
$5 Target Coupon
Total cost after coupons and gift card = $0.38 each
If you don't have any/enough of the $1.50/1 coupons, you can print one (possibly two with the back button) here

Scenario #2
5 boxes of Chewy Granola Bars - $14.40
use 2 of the $1/2 coupons here
Total cost after coupons and gift card = $1.48 each

Scenario 3
2 Boxes of GoLean Crunch, 2 Boxes of Kashi Snacks and 1 Box of Honey Sunshine Cereal - $14.40
Use 2 of the $1.50 off any TLC snack when you buy a box of Kashi GoLean Crunch here
note: the snacks include the chewy bars, crackers and cookies!
Use 1 of the $1.50/1 coupon for Honey Sunshine Cereal here
Total cost after coupons and gift card = $0.98 for each item

Scenario 4
2 boxes of GoLean Crunch, 2 boxes of Chewy Granola Bars, 1 box of Honey Sunshine Cereal - $14.40
Use the same 2 $1.50/TLC snack with the GoLean Crunch purchase here.
Use 2 of the same $1/2 coupons here for the chewy bars.
Use the same $1.50/1 Honey Sunshine Cereal coupon here
Total cost after coupons and gift card = $0.78 for each item

Have any other ideas/scenarios for this awesome opportunity? Please let me know. I'm trying to find the best ones before Wednesday for the frugal beach trip stash! Thanks a bunch!

I went to Harris Teeter today with a friend to check out possible deals with the loads of coupons in today's paper and she suggested we walk around Target for a bit afterward. I'm sooo glad she did!

On a random clearance endcap, I found Guitar Hero World Tour for the PS3 complete with the guitar. I couldn't believe it when I saw the price tag was $23.00 marked down from $89.99!

I won a PS3 last year in a promotion from work and I've yet to buy any games. It's fabulous for Blu Rays and downloaded content but for $23.00, I had to get it. I played it for the first time a week ago at a friend's house and had a lot of fun.

This game is addicting! I'm already cracked out and I've only had it a day. It's so much fun. I'm not sure if there are any more at this Target or if other Targets have marked them down, but it's worth checking out or asking an associate.

The Diaper Diaries has a weekly post called "Things I Love Thursday" and has an open invitation for anyone to join in, so I thought I'd give it a whirl....on Saturday.

I'm late to the party, so hopefully all the fun's not over yet. I love Ross! and Marshall's! But Ross more. I'm stockpiling stuff for the future apartment and I have found more deals on bath/kitchen/bed stuff at those two stores than anywhere else. If I recall, I haven't paid full price for any of the items I've gotten at either place, including Farberware Cutlery, Oneida kitchen tools, a colander, cute silverware, and bamboo place mats among other items I'm sure.

I usually hit each store about twice per week and since they're constantly adding new merchandise and constantly putting things on the sale aisle, you can get some pretty amazing things for dirt cheap if you keep checking back.

So thanks, Diaper Diaries for the challenge. I hope to make it a weekly thing.

So even though I'm still convinced that I was overcharged by a few dollars, I still got out pretty good with everyday double coupons at Harris Teeter. I think my original bill was something like $32.00 and for all of this my final price was $12.65. I think I could have done better, but as far as experiments go, this trip will aid in a frugal beach trip next week!
Check out the post herefor a few freebies and deals from Harris Teeter this week.

I also hit Target this afternoon and managed to wheedle a $16.30 something dollar bill down and got all of the above for only $2.83.

I used 2 of the $2/1 Healthy Choice Frozen Dinners here (priced at $1.79) to get them free.
I also used 2 of the $2/1 Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers also found here to get them for $0.54 each. Looks like both of these are still available. (Thanks Money Saving Mom!

The $1/2 Bic coupon is still available here and the Bic Ultra Round Stic Grip pens are $0.99 each, which made them $0.49 each.

The Market Pantry String cheese coupon also here> is still good, so picked up a couple of those for free.

Finally the General Mills coupon ($1/1) here is still good, and these are actually on sale for $0.95 each making for a nice $0.05 overage if your cashier is so kind, mine was I do believe!

Total spent at both stores today = 15.48. Total savings = somewhere around $30.76! Pretty productive day off I'd say.

Find any good deals? Drop me a note and let me know!
Thanks for reading!

P.S. Sorry. Couldn't find a photo of the Blueberry Muffin Box of Pop Tarts, so I improvised!

So even though there are no triple coupons or super double coupons at Harris Teeter this, I still managed to find a few good deals with the normal doubles. Here goes. Please feel free to let me know if I missed any, I'd be more than happy to post them!

I was snacking after I got off work tonight and watching The Golden Girls and there was a commercial for V8 Fusion. Hoping there was a free sample somewhere, I Googled it. Unfortunately, no sample, but if you go here and give them your e-mail, you can get a coupon for $1 off. Not sure if it will print twice, but it's worth a shot.

If you can stand the Wal-Mart Labor Day Weekend traffic, they have several varieties of Oak Leaf wine for only $2.97/bottle! Not sure if it's good through tomorrow or for the whole week, but it's worth checking out. I snagged a bottle of Chardonnay and Cabernet Savingnon. Let me know how the other flavors are! :)

I never thought I'd be a blogger, but then again, I never pictured myself still in Danville at 23 either. After five long years of undergrad, I am a college graduate. Well, I will be as soon as the diploma's ready. I've got a bit of time before I can start my big girl life to practice. Practice sleeping 'til noon before work. Practice studying for the GREs. Practice saving money.
In the last several months, I've become obsessed with couponing, and with money saving blogs. There are some brilliant people out there that spend less for a week's grocery bill than I would spend on my lunch break.
I'm happy to say that, though I still dine out once or twice a week, I'm able to put away more of my paycheck for other things like student loans and stuff for my future bachelorette pad.
So I guess this blog is an account of my experimentation in more frugal living.
I would like to thank you for dropping in on my education and I hope that maybe you'll pick up something as well now and again.
:)
